Partnering with Critical Exposure allowed us to further develop the creative skills of the students and utilize those skills to provide greater context to the issues.
Our first semester at Calvin Coolidge High school is sadly coming to an end, but the students have only just begun the fight for their campaigns. Students in both classes have chosen to work on the renovation of their school, and the equal allocation of funds to school clubs and programs. Throughout December, students took their cameras, and began documenting their school. For some students this process has allowed them to see parts their school that they hadn’t noticed before. In January, students will continue to take pictures of Coolidge, and they plan to display their photos at the beginning of February. Students in both classes will also meet with Coolidge’s principal, Dr. Jackson, to talk about the issues they’ve decided to address. Great things are happening in Coolidge in the beginning of 2015.
